Winter Walking & Skills
Journey through the wild Scottish Highlands in winter and master snow and ice techniques, all in a relaxed, social setting.

You will learn a whole new set of winter skills, as well as how to plan a safe journey, interpret weather and avalanche forecasts.

Elevate your mountaineering skills and discover the beauty of Scotland’s winter wilderness. Refresh and improve your winter techniques, push yourself physically and mentally, summiting classic Munro’s.

What winter kit do I need?
You’ll receive a complete winter kit list along with helpful advice and information about our rental gear. On the first day of your course, I’ll personally make sure you have everything you need and that your equipment is perfectly suited for your two-day adventure in the mountains.
Can I hire winter equipment?
Renting winter equipment has never been easier! You’ll receive helpful advice and information about our rental equipment. On the first day of your course, I’ll personally make sure you have everything you need and that your equipment is perfectly suited for your two-day adventure in the mountains.
How fit do I need to be?
We’ll be walking at a relaxed, sociable pace, but a moderate level of fitness is recommended, as the winter conditions in Scotland can be a bit challenging at times. If you are looking to enjoy this course at your own pace, please book a private Winter Walking and Skills Course that can be tailored to you and your group.
Do I need transport?
You’ll need transport during your stay but we encourage car sharing.
Do I need accommodation and where is the best place to stay?
Our Basecamp is situated in the Lochside Village of Onich, just 11 miles from Fort William. Accommodation is exclusively offered at a reduced price for those booked on to a winter adventure, subject to availability.
